Happy Sunday, you amazing budding (or existing) entrepreneurs!
Just a little Sunday tip for y’all to muse on and practice this week. This is about your elevator pitch. When someone at a party asks the dreaded “what do you do?” and when you’re crafting content for your website, you’ve gotta be crystal clear on what you offer and why, and what transformation you provide.
When clients go looking for someone to solve a problem or enhance their lives, they are usually committed to transformation since they are seeking new knowledge or skills or practices. The clarity of your message will make or break whether they resonate with you, so use this framework (thanks to Sage Lavine of WomenRockingBusiness) to nail your offering.
Practice it out loud to 3-5 people to see if it passes the “Face Test.” In other words, the person listening to your pitch must call to mind at least one face (of someone they know or know of) who could benefit from your service (or product).
“I work with/teach/inspire/empower _________ (insert group here) to __________________ (insert result here) so they can ___________ (insert problems you solve or benefits achieved here.)”
And remember, “features tell but benefits sell.” (Tell ’em how they’ll be different as a result of working with you). If this nugget was valuable to you, there’s more to come…you can “Like” the UP Talks Facebook page to be notified of new blog posts and join my email list in the website footer.
